:: a structure made up of horizontal and vertical modules to create a control page layout.
Module | column grid: newspaper, brochures, annual reports
Manuscript grid: used for books or long essays.
Hierarchal grid: digital publications or websites.
Nontraditional: an experimental layout that possibly follows a movement or era of design.
margins: the space around the outside edge of the page.
bleeds: part on the side of a document that ensures printed edges occur in the final trimmed document incase
of paper movement or design inconsistencies.
slug: holds printing information for the printer or designer positioned off the final print area.
gutter: interior margins where the left and right page meet.
column: space that runs top to bottom between the margins.
row: space that runs side to side between the margins.
module: space created when a row and column join
alley: space between the columns.
sink: a row a specific distance from the top of the page.
thumbspace: means just that, the area where we hold the page.
